Firefox 2.0.0.11 appearing on ftp mirrors

Firefox 2.0.0.10 has just been released two days ago and the Firefox team is already shoving version 2.0.0.11 on the ftp mirrors in order to publicly release this new version that fixes the bug that emerged after the release two days ago. The reason for the hurry was a bug affecting an important HTML element interface (.drawImage) that affected several websites and extensions.

I suppose the Firefox team will make the announcement of the new release as soon as all mirrors have all versions on their ftp servers to make sure distribution happens as flawlessly as always.

No need for release notes, the only thing fixed seems to be the bug mentioned above. The release is already available on the Oregon mirror ftp.

Another week has past and it is again time for the weekly Firefox extension update post in which I take a look at the most interesting updated or new extensions that have been released in the last seven days. This is of course my selection and yours might differ from that although I do my best to pick all the interesting ones.

NoScript 1.1.8.3 – a great script that increases security by disabling scripting languages except for those in a whitelist.

StumbleUpon 3.16 – the Stumbleupon toolbar lets your stumble and explore websites.

Tab Scope 0.2.1.6 – preview tab contents in small popups.

Theme and Extension Updates Week 46

It is time again for last weeks Firefox extension and theme updates article which takes a look at all the official add-ons and themes that have been newly released or update and are available on the official Mozilla website. This is a selection of what has been released, it is definitely subjective but should cover the most important updates of the last week.

There have not been any noteworthy theme upgrades in the last week unfortunately.

Router Status 0.1.7.3 – shows router status in the status bar

I’m looking back at the last seven days and explore which wonderful new and updated themes and extensions have made their way into the Firefox world. I try to narrow down the selection which naturally means that I will miss the occasional extension or theme and I would be very happy if you could add it in the comments then.

Lets begin with the extensions and move on to the themes afterwards. I hope you find something new and / or interesting in there.

Updated and new Extensions Week 45:

Download Statusbar – Changes the way downloads are handled and displayed in Firefox
Fast Dial – Fast Dial is Operas Speed Dial for Firefox.
Firefox Universal Uploader (fireuploader) – upload/download files from any website (including Flickr, Youtube and Facebook) using a friendly interface.
Gmail Manager – Manage several Gmail accounts on one computer
Gspace – Use Gmail as a file storage.
NoScript – run Java, Javascript and other scripts only on trusted domains
Stumbleupon – A new version of the Stumbleupon toolbar
Webmail Notifier – able to check various webmailers for new mails without visiting their website.

Welcome to the new daily review of what has changed in the land of the Fox since the last update of this article. I try to give a quick overview of all the new and upgraded extensions and themes that have been published. I think that providing this information is a better way of keeping in touch with the latest Firefox news, because frankly, I do not like the way the official site displays those new and updated extensions and themes.

Extensions:

Flagfox – Displays the flag of the country the website you are currently visiting is hosted in.

Foxsaver – Turns Firefox into a Screensaver.

iMacros – create macros to fill out forms automatically for example.

Open Search Fox – add any search form on any website to the Firefox search toolbar.

Update Scanner – scans websites for updates and notifies you if it was updated.
